Metadata FAQ
What should I do when a data source is unavailable?
Add a custom driver package under System Administration → Driver Management → Custom Driver, then enter the endpoint, port, and authentication details in the data source configuration. A custom data source extends connectivity and normally exposes only the metadata provided by that driver.
What does metadata harvesting include?
Typical results include table names, display names, column names, data types, length, precision, primary keys, foreign keys, indexes, and nullability. Object coverage varies by database and driver, so use the harvest result and connector capability as the authority.
How do I obtain lineage?
Stored procedures and similar database objects can be parsed during harvesting. Links from business systems to a warehouse, or within a warehouse, can be prepared as lineage files or Excel and uploaded for parsing. The file view shows the current file result; complete upstream and downstream relationships are available from metadata objects or SQLink.
How do I harvest tables with a specific prefix?
Enter the table prefix in the table/view scope of metadata harvesting and add the % wildcard required by the page. Run a small task first to confirm the result.
