Elementor Canvas
The canvas is the visual editing area of the model, responsible for the layout and graphical editing of the objects. It corresponds to the subject field one by one: each subject field has an independent ER diagram, the canvas only shows the objects referenced by the current subject field, and the complete object range in the model is based on the left model tree, see left model tree.
Canvas and Theme Fields
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Click the subject domain name in the model tree | Canvas to switch to the ER diagram for that subject domain |
| Create a new object on the canvas | The object joins the current subject field and exists in the model at the same time |
| Delete the object on the canvas and select Current Theme | Delete only references to the object in the current subject field |
| Delete the object on the canvas and select Delete Permanently | Remove the object from the model and the references to the other subject areas disappear |
The member table and relationships in the subject domain are reference relationships, so the same table can appear in the ER diagram of multiple subject domains, and the management of the member scope can be found in the subject domain.
Selecting and Manipulating Objects
| Operation | Method | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Radio | Click on an object | Drag a location or view properties when selected |
| Multi-Select | Ctrl-Click | Alternatively, press Ctrl-Click to batch resize and align |
| Checkbox | Directly drag rectangle | Objects within selected rectangle |
| Edit Object | Right-click the object and select Edit Related Commands | Execute Edit, Delete, Copy Paste, Style Edit, etc. |
| Enter text editing | Press Enter or double-click on the object after selecting | Quick edit table name, field name |
See Shortcut Keys for the keys to delete, copy paste, and other canvas object commands. Copy-paste can be used across subject areas within the same model, or across models.
Right Click Blank Area
Right-click in the blank space of the canvas to do a holistic treatment of the display and layout of the current canvas:
| Command Categories | Role |
|---|---|
| Redraw Layout | Rearrange the objects in the canvas according to the selected layout, see Display Layout Adjustments |
| Display formatting | Adjusting object information display specifications to determine whether table names, fields, or data types are displayed on the canvas |
The canvas layout only changes the placement and display of the object, does not change the model structure and object properties; when you need to modify the object itself, you should do it in the object editor.
FAQs
| Phenomenon | Troubleshooting Order |
|---|---|
| The number of canvas objects is less than the model tree | The canvas only shows the current subject field, switching the subject field or supplementary member table |
| There are also fewer objects in other subject domains after deletion | Permanent deletion is used and needs to be referenced or restored from the model |
| Connection position does not match table | Layout redraw first, then fine-tune manually |
| Object display content is incomplete | Check display settings and graphic size, see Display layout adjustment |
